About the Westmont Jaycees
The Westmont Jaycees were founded on
November 4, 1994. Jaycees are fun, caring people who are between the
ages of 18-40 who are willing to share their limited spare time to make
the Westmont area a better place to live. We understand that no one
person can do it all, but
Together We Can Make A Difference.
Since 1920, The Junior Chamber has been impacting the lives of young people across the nation.
It's often "Who you know" that matters in life, and the Jaycees are
people that are connected. They are connected to business leaders, creative entrepreneurs,
and elected officials not just locally, but statewide, nationwide and
even worldwide.
True leaders aren't born, they're made. Jaycees are provided with
leadership learning opportunities through hands on experience. This
experience is gained through local, state, national and international
levels on everything from community projects to guiding Junior Chamber
International.
Some common questions about the Jaycees
What's great about being a Jaycee?
Make a difference in your community.
Learn organizational, communication, teamwork and leadership skills
that can and will help you advance at work. Make new friends locally,
throughout Illinois and all across the U.S. Teach children the value of
caring and sharing with others. Children learn what they live.
What am I getting myself into?
We're here to help you reach your goals in life! Haven't set goals?
We'll show you how. You'll surprise yourself with the things you will
do and accomplish, the good feelings you will experience and the friends and contacts
that will last a lifetime!
How much time do I have to commit?
Dedicate as much - or as little - time as you can and want. We do ask
that you offer at least 6 hours per month. Some of our members
are extremely active, yet others only plan and attend a few select
projects a year. Your level of involvement depends on your
interests and what you want to get out of your membership. Simply
put, the more active you are...the more you will get out of the
organization.
Are children welcome?
Absolutely - Members bring their children to many of our projects and
meetings. Children play a major part in what the Westmont Jaycees do.
There have even been some of the best projects run by those children.
